Clitheroe dancers triumph at National contest
TROPHIES GALORE: The Danceworks dancers with their incredible haul of trophies from the three-day competition in Dorset.
Young dancers from the Ribble Valley brought back an incredible haul of trophies and titles from a national competition in Dorset.
Clitheroe-based group Danceworks, which meets at St James Primary School, took 20 dancers aged from three to 18 to the Supreme Promotions Freestyle Championships, where they competed over three days against schools from all over the UK.
The Danceworks group brought back more than 80 trophies and won six National Titles, from Beginner level to Premier Champion. Title winners were Hattie Pendlebury (12), Aimee Parkinson (12), Emily Warren (10), Oliver Kirk (13) and Demi Davidson (10).
The dancers have been training hard in Freestyle Disco (solo, pairs and trios) and Freestyle Slow Dance (solo and pairs and rock ‘n’ roll). They had to master high jumps, flexible kicks and high energy gymnastics.
Danceworks Principals Nigel Kirk and Claire Sullivan are amazingly proud of all the dancers:.
“They work extremely hard and are extremely grown up and handle the competitive world of dance with professionalism and maturity,” said Claire. “They support each other and really act as one big family.”
Danceworks holds classes through the week at St James Primary School and anyone interested in finding out more can call 07594 375249.
