SNOOKER sensation Shaun Murphy officially launched the annual Whalley Pickwick Night celebrations last night.
Crowds of people descended into the village to see the 2005 world champion kick-start the three-hour extravaganza, which has been hailed a success.
The event, which celebrated its 23rd year, saw the village take a step back in time and soak up the sights and sounds of a Victorian Christmas during a mammoth festive street fair with a Dickensian theme.
The shops remained open until 9 p.m. with staff wearing Victorian-style dress as they sold Yuletide gifts to hundreds of visitors who travel from far and wide to enjoy the festival.
