editorial image

A FILM-MAKER from Simonstone who edited a Hollywood blockbuster movie has missed out on a top academy award.

Matthew “Mat” Newman (36) was nominated for best editing on the film “Drive” starring Ryan Gosling at the BAFTA Awards.

The former Gawthorpe High School pupil came up against “Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy”, “The Artist”, “Hugo” and “Senna” – which won on the night.

The father-of-two is currently in Bangkok making the sequel to “Drive”.
