The first Lady President of the Rotary Club of Clitheroe, Mary Robinson, welcomed her guests to the 83rd Charter Night for the Clitheroe Club held at Mytton Fold Hotel.

Guests included the Mayors of Ribble Valley and Clitheroe plus Rotary District Governor, Malcolm Baldwin and his wife Rotarian and Past President of the Accrington Club, Jacquie Baldwin. Rotarians from other Clubs far and wide also attended.

The District Governor remarked on the good work that the club undertakes in the community and internationally, supporting the youth of the Ribble Valley and areas of the world in need following natural disasters.

The response from the guests was given by Glen Fendall, County Commissioner for East Lancashire Scouts.

Glen remarked on President Mary’s work with the Scouts and how well she connects with the children.

Those present were also entertained with stories of how young Scouts can put adults on the spot once they are given a microphone at jamborees, always ending with everyone having a good laugh and with a sigh of relief.
