Clitheroe Lion Mr Ian Joyce has roared into office as president for the third year.

He was presented with his chain of office by retiring president Mr Raymond Bennett during a handover ceremony in the restaurant at Holden Clough Nursery, Bolton by Bowland.

Guests included partners and friends and following the handover ceremony the club made a special presentation of the Geoffrey Braithwaite Award to Captain Elizabeth Smith of the Clitheroe Salvation Army.

This award is presented each year in memory of Geoff who was a much loved and hardworking Lion and fund raiser for East Lancs Hospice.

Captain Smith was chosen as a worthy recipient in view of her many years work assisting elderly and needy people in Clitheroe. She was presented with the award of £200 which will be used to continue the work of the Salvation Army. The organisation was also presented with £150 to provide IT equipment at the Salvation Army centre to give job seekers access to the internet.
