Have your say

One of the most important accessories for any gamer is of course the headset, and most of us these days have numerous gadgets/consoles that we like to play on yet the major problem is finding a headset that will work with all of them.

Now imagine this scenario, you’re playing COD on line and you are about to have the highest score ever, when suddenly you notice your phone ringing, and to top it all it’s the other half!!! So what do you do? Turn down the chance of glory or risk putting your relationship in jeopardy?

Well the answer is the RIG Stereo Headset and Mixer from Plantronics and it will help you too glory and keep your relationship intact (no guarantees on either)

The RIG Stereo Headset and Mixer is an impressive looking set up and the headset itself is one of the most comfortable I have tried in a long time, light and nicely padded hardly noticeable after a while.

Ok let’s get down to the tech side of things, the RIG Stereo Headset and Mixer comes with an array of cables for a variety of configurations, and a central control/mixer unit.

The great thing about this headset is it can be used with different consoles and devices including the Playstation 4, the only downside being previously mentioned cables which can be a pain if you are using it with a console for instance.

The whole point of this set up is that you can mix the sound of your console/pc with either an mp3 player or phone thanks to the mixer unit, and it does work well. The two mixer volume controls can be used to balance out the game and phone volume so you can talk either in game or on the phone, again works really well and my voice was heard nice and clear on both, and you can swap between phone and console by using the handy switch, there is a master volume/on/off switch and a pre-set EQ.

Sound quality is excellent via the40mm speaker drivers and sound insulation is also spot on, the mic is detachable and has an on/off switch accessible via the mixer, there is also a standard lead for use with tablets/mp3s and phones with a mic for those of you who wish to walk around.

There is an Xbox connection lead which enables you to talk via xbox live and this plugs into the mixer again very handy but you will find that all the cables can be annoying and I would recommend extension cables for both the usb and audio as the ones provided are a little short for my liking.

The RIG Stereo Headset comes in a choice of two colours white or black.

Summary

The RIG Stereo Headset and Mixer is a nice piece of kit and build quality and sound are pretty good the only problem I found was that using it with consoles the cabling became a bit of a nightmare and the other is the price, these aren`t the cheapest out there (you can find them as low as £89.00 if you look around), the mixer and its multi-platform usability is a good idea, a wireless version would be awesome.
