Easter egg treasure hunt at Clitheroe Castle

A POPULAR Easter Egg Treasure Hunt fund-raiser is returning to Clitheroe after a two-year break.

The Friends of Chernobyl's Children, Clitheroe Branch, is again organising its moneyspinning Easter Egg Treasure Hunt in the grounds of Clitheroe Castle.

After a two-year break, largely due to the 3m. restoration of the Castle Keep and Museum, this popular family fund-raiser is back and local children are urged to go along and join in the fun.

The Easter Egg Treasure Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 3rd, throughout the Castle Grounds. Starting from the Castle Gate and at any time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., children are invited to follow a trail of clues around the grounds to find giant Easter Eggs left behind by the Easter Bunny.

All children who correctly complete the trail will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win a giant Easter Egg.

The entrance fee is 1.50 per child and adults go free!

All money raised from the event will be used to support the work of the Clitheroe Branch of Friends of Chernobyl's Children.

This local charity is run entirely by volunteers and exists to support the annual visit of 20 children from Chernobyl to Clitheroe for a month each year, providing a vital boost to their health and immune systems.

During their stay the visitors, who live with local host families, enjoy life in local schools plus a variety of trips and activities, including medical and dental check-ups.

The same children return for several years, which not only builds a strong bond with their host families, but also has a powerful cumulative effect in terms of the long-term health benefits from breathing pure air and eating good food.

Anyone who wants to know more about the charity and its work, or become actively involved, can contact its chairman, David Wymer, on 01200 423219.
