VOTE: Is there any future for failing high street shops like HMV?

WITH major high street retailer HMV calling in the administrators, hot on the heels of photographic chain store Jessops and electrical giant Comet, many retail analysts are predicting a grim future for our high streets.

In their place we see more and more giant superstores springing up, usually on out-of-town or edge-of-town sites with plenty of free parking and selling an ever-widening range of goods apart from food, from paperbacks to plasma to TVs, medicines to music and toys to trousers . And the dawn of the digtal age means more and more of us are doing our shopping online, without ever leaving home.

So can our town centre shopping streets adapt and compete, or is it all over for them.

What do you think? Have your say in our vote to the right.
