Ribble Valley attractions feature in new Lancashire guide

unique attractions of the Ribble Valley feature prominently in the 2013 edition of Lancashire’s Visitor Guide.

Lancashire attracts more than 60 million visitors a year, even more than the Lake District, and the guide is produced by Marketing Lancashire, formerly the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board.

The guide highlights Lancashire’s Tolkien Trail, centred on Hurst Green and Stonyhurst College, and cycling adventures in the Forest of Bowland.

The 400th Anniversary of the Lancashire Witch Trials left a legacy from some of Lancashire’s most horrible histories and inspired artists and performers to create new memorials to those accused of acts of witchcraft.

Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy’s words are now inscribed on way markers on the newly signed Witches Walk from Pendle to Lancaster.

“Mytton Fold Hotel and Golf Complex welcomed guests and groups from all over the world and continue to offer great value golfing breaks in their stunning Ribble Valley location in 2013,” the guide says.

Nearby attractions highlighted include the new Pendle Sculpture Trail in Aitken Wood, Barley, and the new Dewlay Visitor Centre and Cheese Shop in Garstang.

This guide includes a directory of quality places to stay and eat, where the Ribble Valley is well represented, along with mouth-watering Lancashire recipes, as well as festivals, trails and ideas for great days out in Lancashire, described as “the feel-good county.”

The new Lancashire Visitor Guide 2013 is available in print from local visitor information centres and can be downloaded from visitlancashire.com.
