Whalley Pickwick Festival boost for Langho Tots
LET'S PLAY: Toddlers and mums at Langho Tots Group with their new play equipment.
Funds raised from Whalley Pickwick Festival 2011 have been used to support Langho Tots Group.
The group was given £500 to help buy new equipment and toys for tots who attend the weekly Monday morning sessions in the Parish Centre at St Mary’s Church, York Lane.
The group was started five years ago by Liz Harrison, who could not find a mother and baby group locally in Langho.
She started the sessions for mothers to get together over a coffee and have fun with their children, and the group has grown significantly since then.
Neil Martin, the Pickwick Committee chairman, visited the tots group and saw the new equipment. He said: “It is a pleasure to be able to support such a lively and engaging toddler group locally in the Ribble Valley.
“This group is self-funded by the parents and it’s great to see so many children benefiting from the new equipment.”
Liz Harrison said “The kind donation has allowed the group to invest in engaging and educational equipment which will last for many years to come. The word has gone out over the summer that we have been able to invest in new things, and numbers attending have increased since, which is good news.”
The Whalley Pickwick Committee is a voluntary run organisation that arranges and hosts the village’s Pickwick Night festivities.
This year’s event is being held on the December 6th, and any profit made on the night will go to local good causes.
