Read brothers move into Sabden antiques centre
Peter and Paul Hart, proprietors of the Ribble Valley Antiques Centre, in Sabden.
BROTHERS Peter and Paul Hart, who share a passion for antiques, are the faces behind Ribble Valley Antiques Centre, in Sabden.
Originally from nearby Read, the brothers’ love of antiques came from their father, Les, who for many years had dabbled buying and selling antique furniture and collectables, firstly as a hobby until he retired to pursue his interest full-time. Peter (36) and Paul (29) helped their dad, attending auctions and sales until they too got the bug and began selling at antiques centres.
Paul comes from a background working with horses and has worked at some of the area’s big equestrian yards. Over recent years, Peter has worked for an auctioneers’, gaining knowledge and experience.
Over the past 12 months the brothers, with their dad, had been looking to start their own antiques venture when the opportunity came along to move into Sabden’s Watt Street mill, already a popular destination for people seeking out quality antiques.
Open seven days-a-week to trade and public, the antiques centre has stock spread over three floors, including furniture, collectables, clocks, jewellery, leaded and stained glass, Victorian pine, lighting and fireplaces.
The centre is also home to the new “Cauldron Cafe”, open daily serving home-made food.
