NOSALGIA; Brownies at Clitheroe Police Station in 1984

Here’s a pack of black and white Brownies from 1984, all learning the vital life skill of brewing up!

This photo was loaned to us by G. Arnold, of Queen Street, and shows a Brownies’ tea party in Clitheroe Police Station. At the centre of the photo is the then vicar of St Paul’s, Low Moor, the Rev. Brian Stephenson, who was helping the Brownies achieve their teamaking badge.

Whether such a badge still exists in today’s politically correct climate is questionable, but there’s nothing wrong with knowing how to make a decent cuppa, whoever you are!

Do you recognise any of these young Brownies or their leaders?
