Crash closes A59 near Clitheroe

A TWO car collision closed the A59 during rush hour this morning (Monday).

All three emergency services responded to the accident involving a Ford Ka and a Fiat Bravo.

The smash happened at around 7-30 a.m. close to the Sabden junction.

Fire-fighters used cutting equipment to remove the roof off the Ford Ka.

The male driver of the Ford Ka was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with possible back injuries while the driver of the Fiat Bravo is believed to have sustained a cut to their leg and whiplash injuries.

There was a road block on the A59 from the roundabout at the top of Whalley Road into Clitheroe up until the turn off to Pendleton.

The crash caused traffic congestion on the A59 and in Clitheroe. The Fiat Brava not recovered until just after 9 a.m.
