Luke's hard work pays dividends
LUKE Tasker put in a credible display on his first taste of the international triathlon stage.
At just 14, he was one of the youngest competitors in his category while representing Great Britain in the Czech Republic.
And not only did the Waddington teenager finish in 17th of 65 entrants, but he was also the second highest placed British athlete.
And on his first taste of the international stage, he said: "I've worked hard for this and all the coaching staff have been really supportive.
"It was a brilliant trip, and I'm now working to get a place on the team for the European Championships in the summer."
Luke, who swims for Pioneer 79, trains at Hyndburn Sports Centre as well as QEGS pool in Blackburn.
He also runs with Blackburn Harriers, and shoots with the Ribble Valley Pentathlon team in Clitheroe.
And Pioneer 79 head coach Lee Stringfellow added: "As a club we are delighted to see progress like this leading to an international honour – this shows just how far we are coming as a club.
"We are all very proud of Luke's achievements."
