KIRK Cattermole is setting the pace in British karting.
The 20-year-old, from Mytton View in Clitheroe, races a 125 cc Rotax Max Engine on a CAT kart chassis, competing in four championships.

The Motor Sport Mechanic, for CAT Racing Services, a family run motorsport and karting business, is currently third in the Three Sisters Club Championship at the Wigan track, having picked up several podium finishes, missing only one point-scoring round.

In the Dragon Kart Club Championship in North Wales, "Captain Kirk" has won every heat and final so far this year to lead the pack.

And he has also won every heat and final in the Cheshire Kart Club Championship at the Ellesmere Port-based circuit to lead the series, as well as setting several fastest laps and setting the new lap record for his class.

Cattermole is in his first year in the British Super 1 rotax max Championship, held over six rounds all over the UK, however, due to bad weather, the first two rounds held at the Clay Pigeon and Shenington have been cut short, and no finals have been run.

He is using this first year as a learning experience, and hopes to compete in the championship again next year. Cattermole would like to thank his parents for providing him with financial support, help and advice.
