Kings take Craven Pool title

KINGS Arms B were presented the Peter Hodgkinson Memorial Trophy as 2008 Craven and Pendle Pool League champions on Saturday night.
Donated by Harrison and Kerr Butchers in honour of the popular late landlord "Hoppy", the presentation was made by his two sons, Simon and Luke.

The same team of D. Briggs, J. White, R. Hope, S. Whittaker, M. Crossland, P. Hodges, G. Hetherington, C. Whittaker and C. Eaves also won the team knockout after beating stable-mates Kings Arms A into second spot. Higher Buck A were runners-up in the league.

And in the Second Division the top honours were taken by Anchor over runners-up Lower Buck.

Players-player of the year was awarded to Scott Turner and the doubles team to win the most games throughout the season was Higher Buck A pair Joe Drachenberg and Andy Sudworth.

Sudworth also took home the singles winner honours, which saw Dan Ridgeway runner-up, as well recording the most singles victories throughout the entire league to be named the main man.

But Kings Arms A player Ridgway and partner Simon Ryan took the doubles honour over team-mates Pete Sutcliffe and Tony Ridgeway.

Meanwhile the captain's cup went toPendle Inn's Scott Turner over Lower Buck runner-up Steve Hatton.

Each team also had a star player. For the Anchor it was Geoff Alderson, the Black Bull Olly Crookes, Buck Inn J. Robinson, Cross Keys Paul Licastri, Fosters S. Clouston, Higher Buck A Andy Sudworth, Higher Buck B Mick Adamson, Kings Arms B Gareth Hetherington, Kings Arms A Simon Ryan, Lower Buck Steve Hatton and the Pendle Inn Scott Turner.

The best table award was taken by Grindleton's Buck Inn and the best supper award went to Fosters at Barnoldswick as did the Wooden Spoon.
