Hockey club enjoy successful evening
ANOTHER successful season was celebrated by Clitheroe Hockey Club on Friday night.
The club held their annual dinner and awards night, with a four-course meal at the Moorcock Hotel in Waddington.
The club has had another fantastic campaign, following the ladies' first team moving up to the Lancashire Premier League last year.
After three consecutive promotions, the ladies missed out on the title in their first season by just four points.
They also had an excellent run in the Lancashire Caley Cup, narrowly losing 8-7 in the semi-finals after it went to penalty strokes. This was the first time the club had reached the last four, and they also played in the National Vase, which saw them go out 4-3 in the third round.
The second team also gained promotion last year, and in their first season in the higher division, they finished just outside the promotion spots in third place.
The thirds, who entered the league for the first time last season, finished an outstanding sixth in their league, recording some excellent results along the way.
The Under 13s and the Under 15s both had very good seasons in the Lancashire Central Junior League, with the Under 13s finishing fourth, and the Under 15s sixth.
The club would like to say a massive thanks to their sponsors Chenry Maher, who have provided them with an excellent playing kit and logo.
If anyone would like to join the club, please contact Hannah (07855337708) or email clitheroehockeyclub@hotmail.co.uk
The club welcomes any kind of sponsorship to help the club continue to push forward and bring junior sport at grass roots level to the Ribble Valley.
