CLITHEROE Wolves Under 8s emerged as deserved winners of the Blackburn and Darwen Schools' tournament at BAE systems in Samlesbury.
On an almost perfect playing surface, the young Wolves emerged from the difficult group stages of the competition undefeated, with wins over Blue Star, Knuzden Juniors, Oswaldwistle Rangers, and Mill Hill.

A draw against Mellor and a very good Beechfield United side saw the boys reach the semi-final stage.

In the last four, the young Wolves beat Walton 3-1, to earn a final place against Beechfield United.

In a very competitive game, it took one moment of inspiration to settle the tie as, with the first half drawing to a close, Owen Jackson flighted in a perfectly-weighted free-kick, and Daniel Holmes timed his run to perfection to steal in at the back post and steer the ball past the keeper.
