Weather warning for motorists!

DRIVERS across Burnley, Pendle and the Ribble Valley are being advised to take extra care on the roads during the current heavy rain and to check the weather forecast and road conditions before they set off.
The advice comes after the national Met Office issued an urgent warning of severe weather conditions expected in the North West of England.
Heavy rain which started to fall yesterday is expected throughout today, before easing on Sunday. Up to 15mm of rain in three hours is expected in places, with accumulations of up to 40mm possible on already saturated ground.
Drivers are reminded rain and spray can reduce visibility and when the road is wet it can take up to twice as long to stop so it makes sense to slow down. They are also warned to move slowly through standing water and test their brakes before continuing to drive.
