A TEAM of four from Clitheroe-firm Ultraframe has won the coveted MasterMerchants 2008 title.

The competition, organised by the Builders' Merchant Federation, is open to companies in the building supplies industry and tests creativity and team working.

Teams take part in a series of activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, caving and fell running.

The local team, Adam Mansfield, Will Rimmington, Lee Wilkinson and Mark Davies, won the final, held in Ingleton, with a 30-point lead.

Mark Davies, human resources manager at Ultraframe, said: "The competition was a great experience for the team and while we all thoroughly enjoyed taking part, it was fantastic to be crowned as the MasterMerchant Champions 2008 after all our hard work.

"The series of tests and challenges involved were demanding, both mentally and physically, but through great team work we managed to triumph at each stage of the competition and winning the final with a 30-point margin was the icing on the cake.

"Entering the competition was a great experience and we intend to enter next year to defend our title!"
