ANIMAL lovers across Ribble Valley can actively support their local branch of the RSPCA through a new charity shop in Clitheroe.
The RSPCA Lancashire East Branch opened its second charity shop outlet on Saturday, choosing Clitheroe as the venue. The new shop, in Castle Street, was opened by the Mayor of Clitheroe, Coun. Mary Robinson.

She cut the ribbon while a crowd looked on, then it was all hands on deck to serve the many generous shoppers who turned out for the opening.

The shop sells a range of quality used clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, games and books, plus some new RSPCA branded items such as dog leads, mugs and keyrings. All money raised in the shop will be spent on local animals in the care of the RSPCA.

The Lancs East Branch is one of 171 separate, independent and self-funded branches within the RSPCA. It receives no government funding but relies on donations, bequests and income from its two charity shops, one in Burnley and the new one in Clitheroe.

Donations of goods to sell can be dropped off at the shop, where special sacks are also available if you fancy having a clearout. More volunters are also needed to help staff the shop – for more details call in or phone on 01200 425176.
