A UNIQUE table centrepiece presented by Her Majesty The Queen to the newly-formed Duke of Lancaster's Regiment is the work of Clitheroe silversmith David Frost.
David was approached by the Duchy of Lancaster in August, 2006, to design and craft a centrepiece to mark the formation of the new regiment.

Working with 10.3 kilos of silver, David (68) spent more than a thousand hours crafting the centrepiece, which will sit on the top table during dinners and functions at the regiment's headquarters at Catterick.

"The project has taken nearly two years to design and complete, and had to be undertaken in complete secrecy, which to say the least was difficult," explained David.

Find out more about David's secret mission in tomorrow's Clither Advertiser & Times, where we've also got a picture of the centrepiece.

David, who taught for 34 years at Manchester Metropolitan University, initially crafted four full-size models which were presented for consideration at the Duchy headquarters in London before one received the Royal stamp of approval.
