A FORMER Clitheroe Royal Grammar School pupil is officially the youngest female Approved Driving Instructor in Lancashire.
Catherine Birtwistle, of Billington, who is only 23, is now passing on her skills to peers who can be more than three times her age. "My first pupil was 74 years old," Catherine explained.

A qualified AA franchised driving instructor, Catherine completed all her exams and tests in theory, practical driving ability and tuition skills.

Her mother, Helen, said: "Catherine is passionate about driving and is keen to pass on her skills. She offers courses for new drivers, pass plus, motorway tuition and refreshers for those less confident on today's busy roads."

Driving Standard Agency spokesman Tim Barnatt said that, nationally, Catherine, who passed her test first time at the age of 17, is currently the 40th youngest Approved Driving Instructor in the country.
