A day to rememner for youth worker Mel

YOUTH worker Mel Diack travelled to Buckingham Palace to receive his MBE from Prince Charles.


The award was presented in recognition of Mr Diack's voluntary services to young people in the Ribble Valley and Lancashire.

Mr Diack, of Mitton Road, Whalley was named in the Queen's New Year's Honours List. Apart from his work in the local area, he has been a volunteeer with the Prince's Trust and the Lancashire Association of Young People.

In 2005 he scooped the National Lottery's Local Legend Award for his work with mainly socially excluded young people throughout the county.
