A £500 cheque and an offer of DIY skills to boot are helping to lick Clitheroe's Citizens' Advice Burea offices into shape.
The cash and the offer of practical help have both come from the Rotary Club of Clitheroe, whose members have a broad range of DIY skills between them.

Local CAB branch manager Katy Marshall said: "I appreciate every penny of the money of course, but the offer from 10 Clitheroe Rotarian volunteers to turn up and work on the new interview room is really wonderful.

"Once the electrics are sorted, we'll be getting these guys – including ladies, I must add – to help crack on with the painting and decorating: it's a great example of hands-on help and I applaud their community spirit!"

Rotary Club president Alan Yearing said he was proud to support the bureau: "This is what we are all about," he said. "Rotary in Clitheroe supports both local and international charities. During this past year the Rotary Club of Clitheroe has been able to donate in excess of £7,000."

Alan also urges people – men and women alike – to get involved with Rotary and the good work it does.

"As an organisation we rely upon the great support which is given by our members," he said. "If you would like to join us, we meet at the Old Post House Hotel, in King Street, Clitheroe, on Thursday lunchtimes at 12-30 p.m."
