BURNLEY are held to a Boxing Day draw by Sheffield Wednesday.
Two goals in a minute around the half hour mark means Owen Coyle is still searching for his first home win as Burnley manager.

And there was controversy surrounding Wednesday's opener, as Gabor Kiraly was not ready for Deon Burton's penalty to be
taken, as the former Derby man tucked home the spot kick.

However, just a minute later, Wade Elliott's cross into the box was headed towards goal by Robbie Blake, and aftrer Lee Grant's save, Ade Akinbiyi powered home the equaliser.

CLOCKWATCH

5 mins: Tommy Spurr's quick throw-in releases Steve Watson, but his long range effort is easy for Gabor Kiraly.

9 mins: Tommy Spurr again creates space on the left hand side, this time electing to feed Deon Burton who drags his effort woefully wide of the target.

12 mins: Robbie Blake's corner from the right confuses the goalkeeper, and is headed over by Steven Caldwell from six yards out.

20 mins: Quick thinking from a free kick releases Robbie Blake, and after the ball comes out to Wade Elliott on the right, his cross is headed off target by Ade Akinbiyi.

25 mins: Jon Harley makes space for a shot on the edge of the box, but fires inches wide of Lee Grant's right hand post.

29 mins: GOAL!! Controversy at Turf Moor as Deon Burton beats Gabor Kiraly from the penalty spot, despite the Hungarian being not ready for the kick to be taken. Steven Caldwell gave away the spot kick for a foul on Marcus Tudgay, for which he was booked. Burnley 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday.

30 mins: GOAL!! Burnley respond almost instantly, as Kyle Lafferty's cross for Wade Elliott is pumped back in by the winger, and after Robbie Blake's initial header is saved, Ade Akinbiyi powers home the rebound. Burnley 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday.

Half-Time: Burnley 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday.

48 mins: Kyle Lafferty's left wing run sees him cut inside on his right foot, but his curling effort goes wide of the far post.

49 mins: Steven Caldwell wins possession in midfield and sprays the ball out to Wade Elliott, and after he beats his man, his cross for Caldwell is headed just over the bar from close range.

71 mins: Lee Bullen comes off the right wing with the ball, and bears down on the area before shooting high and wide with his left foot.

81 mins: Wade Elliott's exquisite backheel gets him free of his marker on the left, and his delicately flighted cross is headed wide on the run by James O'Connor.

85 mins: Robbie Blake's corner from the right is met by Clarke Carlisle, and after his header is superbly saved by Lee Grant, Steven Caldwell's follow-up is blocked by a sea of bodies.
