POLICE in Burnley say they are concerned for the welfare of a 33-year-old man who has been missing from home since last week.
Zahid Mahmood, of Colne Road, Burnley, was last seen visiting Ace Taxis, in Colne Road, at noon on Wednesday, August 27th.

Zahid, who is on medication for depression, is described as being 5ft. 8in. tall and clean shaven with short dark hair. He was wearing dark jeans, a dark jacket and dark shoes when he went missing.

Initial searches have failed to trace Zahid and police say they are now growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

Insp. Martin Melvyn said: "Zahid has gone missing before but never for this length of time. Given he has now been missing for a week and suffers from depression, both my officers and his family are growing increasingly concerned for him.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen Zahid or know where he is to come forward. Likewise if Zahid himself sees or hears this appeal, we would appeal for him to get in touch to let us know he is safe and well."

Local people are being asked to check sheds, garages and outbuildings in case Zahid has sought shelter and anyone with any information which could help the investigation is urged to contact Burnley Police on 0845 1 25 35 45.
