Scouts - be prepared...
Features Links Columnist Your Scouts Contacts
THE Ribble Valley has a thriving Scouting scene, with hundreds of local young people taking part in organised activities week in week out.

In this special www.clitheroeadvertser.co.uk section, we share in some of their stories and point you in the right direction to get involved.

Clitheroe District Scout Council is currently made up of 10 Scout Groups in the Ribble Valley, Clitheroe and surrounding villages of Chatburn, Chipping, Ribchester, Waddington and Whalley. The district is one of seven in East Lancashire Scouts.

Many of the Scout Groups contains a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack and Scout Section and are highly active within their own group. In addition, there is a District Explorer Group which meets in Clitheroe for the older members.

The District Activities Team also organizes a number of district activities each year to which all Scouts are invited ... past events have seen a coast-to-coast challenge, a traditional camp in Scotland, and the famous water weekend in Ambleside.

But these weekends aren’t just about traditional activities, you get the chance to meet other Scouts and make new friends, learn new activities like scuba diving, potholing and skiing with specialist instructors and if that isn’t enough there are cultural and Gang Show events and an annual trip to the Outdoor Show in the Birmingham NEC.
